The old Lodge has for many years been a local gathering place for drinking and eating, as well as a hotel, and I can personally recommend the food, as Carol and I eat there from time to time with friends, taking advantage of their excellent weekday lunch specials. Situated in the heart of Alverstoke it is a charming hostelry and well worth a visit when you are in and around Gosport.
